Safari, by Hampton Boats

Hampton Boats of Oulton Broad launched their “Safari 25” in 1969. The design was very popular - over 250 were produced between 1969 and 1982. Sadly the company closed in 2002 but some Safari’s still run in other hirefleets and in private hands.

The Mk I and II Safari have a full sliding section forward of the saloon settee/convertible double or single. There is then a galley with bathroom(s) opposite and usually a fixed double aft. At 25ft 6“ these are very space efficient and are suprisingly spacious for their compact size. The table which pulls out or slides away into the bow of the boat is just one neat feature!

The Mk III Safari was similar in most essential design respects but had a fixed roof with just a sunroof over saloon rather than the full section. There were also front doors leading onto a small forward area to sit out or enable easier access, making mooring etc easier.

The Mk IV Safari was a Sedan, based on the same hull. Only a few were built, possibly just the two ran by Hampton Boats in their hirefleet.
