July 1988 - “Ludlow”, Peak Forest Cruisers:
We took our first holiday just ten miles from home! We’d seen one of Peak Forest’s boats out whilst walking the canal and noted the number & got in touch. We booked their 45ft 5/6 berth “Ludlow” for a week in July. Despite torrential rain on day one things imprived steadily and we had good weather for most of the week.
We cruised to Kidsgrove but decided against the Harecastle Tunnel, got stuck trying to go under a wrong bridge arch (now signed!), and went a short way down heartbreak hill locks before returning.
The boat and hirefleet was of fair, but not luxurious standard and I loved it, my Sisters seemed to enjoy the sunbathing opportunities!
